The National Federation of Farmers in cooperation with the Community Development Institute and National Committee for Family Farming – Macedonia on 23.05.2018 in the municipal hall in Gostivar organized an open meeting between the farmers and rural population from the Gostivar-Tetovo region and the representatives of Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Macedonia.
The goal of this open meeting was to discuss about the EU’s support for Macedonia.
At the meeting, the representatives of the European Union were informed by the citizens about the problems, challenges and their recommendations for the support that are necessary for the development of this region.
The farmers highlighted the problems they have with the legalization of the tor’s and livestock farms, problems with water networks, closed irrigation systems, uncontrolled import of pesticides and herbicides, poor infrastructure etc. The problems with the placement and the purchase prices are the most difficult problems for the farmers and especially for the Gostivar – Tetovo region, and also supporting young people and women for their economic empowerment and development.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Nikola Bertolini – Head of Cooperation at the European Commission Delegation in Skopje, Macedonia, Head of EU Cooperation and Ms. Marga Deleva, Head of the EU Agriculture and Rural Development Sector, and the event was moderated by Vaska Mojsovska, president of the National Federation of Farmers.
The regional director of We Effect- Europe region, Anna Erlandson was also present at this meeting. We Effect – development cooperation supports the development of the organization in order to strengthen the voice of farmers through the Federation through the project “Institutional Support to the NFF”.
