Project “Increasing Market Employability – IME” in Macedonia

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Project “Increasing Market Employability – IME” in Macedonia in cooperation with Community Development Institute – CDI Tetovo, aims on market development that leads to improved access to decent employment and income opportunities for youth and young women in particular.

CDI as local consultant organized and supported the programme in delivering an INFOSESSION -One day event in Tetovo, and organized the process of identification and selection of existing organic advisors, distributes, exporters, processors and other qualified participants to attend the training for advisers for organic planed production (capacity building programme). Within the activities National Committee for Family Farming – Macedonia was also included as collaborator.

IME is focused to strengthen supply chain linkages, to secure supply of organic products to interested buyers, and to develop alternative distribution channel(s) for higher production and sales of organic products.

For this purpose CDI as local consultant:

  • organized the process Organize and support the programme in delivering an info session for organic agriculture in Tetovo covering farmers from Polog region with a focus on women farmers from both Macedonian and Albanian ethnic groups;
  • Invite participants;
  • Support the programme in identifying the best location for the event.

Target beneficiaries are the farmers from Polog region with a focus on women farmers from both Macedonian and Albanian ethnic groups, stakeholders.

 

Four day event – capacity building programme (TRAINING for advisers for organic planed production)

IME is focused on activities that will be aimed to increase the awareness of existing markets for organic (local and export markets), the distribution network and for the farmers to access information and knowledge for growing organic.

For this purpose, CDI as local consultant organized the process of identification and selection of existing organic advisors, distributers, exporters, processors and other qualified participants to attend the training for advisers for organic planed production (capacity building programme).

The Four day event – capacity building programme consisted of two parts: theoretical and practical part.

Theoretical part was implemented in hotel Kontinental Skopje (1 and 2 of June 2018), and the practical part was implemented in:

For garden crops – on the farm in Oreshani (2 of June 2018) and on the farm in Strumica – POKROV (8 of June 2018),

For fruit crops – on the farm in Kumanovo (2 of June 2018) and on the farm in Rankovce, Kriva Palanka, (9 of June 2018).

The project contributed toward 21 trained participants with improved knowledge in organic agriculture, who will advise farmers on organic production, conversion, certification processes,  Increased awareness of advisory services and usage of advisory services,  and  Improving recently established cooperation and linkages between market actors and strengthening the value chain actors, trough introduction of new distribution services, promotion of the points of sale, increasing managerial capacities and implementation of modern business practices at farmers’ level (post-harvesting activities, logistic, pricing).
